Just wondering..

throughout this campaign, many of you cited Obama's "views" of coal as a detriment and a reason he wouldn't get your vote. McCain, on the other hand, was gonna be the choice...even though he in the past was one of the principle forces behind the regulation of the tobacco industry...and the subsequent lawsuits that followed. Considering that what McCain did hurt our state as much as Obama's "views" of coal could possibly, why didn't any of you guys pick up on this? Not informed maybe?

The coal issue is big for all of us becouse there will be alot of us forced to packup and find a new job if they crack down on coal like some of there statments have sugusted

As far as Tobacco is concerened I could give 2 craps one way or the other both them and now and you are insane if you think Tobacco being bankruped would hurt SWVA half as much as Coal being Bankruped

See if those in Scott County share your sentiment. Tobacco was to them what coal is to you. And, in the grand scheme of things, tobacco meant more to VA than coal.

Tobacco in Scott &lt;&gt; the Coal in SWVA Not even close give me the numbers of people employeed by the Tobacco industry localy and if you were to put a coupple of zeros behind then you would get close to Coal

the importance of the coal industry to you guys is why im scratching my head as to how anybody down there could have even considered voting for odumbo

if he puts the kabosh on the industry.......you guys are going to ruined economically

why would anybody want to take that chance?

Many families grew tobacco...not many now that the gov. bought their quotas up, but at one time not too long ago, it was a major source of revenue for the county.

Many families grew tobacco...not many now that the gov. bought their quotas up, but at one time not too long ago, it was a major source of revenue for the county. </div></div>

I do not doubt that is was big for the farmers and when I lived in Castlewood I had several friends that did the tobacoo thing with there famley for extra cash butI would bet that there are more prople employeed just in the transportation of coal than they are involved in tobacco...... If Coal goes under then we will have nothing but a few call centers to turn to for employeement (well there is the gas riggs but if I am not mistaken that was called a dirty fuel by that group as well so....)
